Don't confuse GNOME and nautilus..

Currently, Nautilus is brand new and still slow and a little buggy..
But GNOME itself is quite stable..

If you don't want to use nautilus :
-logout from gnome
-remove .gnome/session
-remove nautilus package
-be sure gmc is installed
-log under GNOME..
