Targetting 8.1?  If so that is what I should work with anyway.

OK, so now I have a "gi" subdir.  Assuming I find where I want to make
changes and make them (don't worry, I will figure this part out), how
do I plop those changes into my filesystem based install image (i.e.
for use with "hd.img"?)

Can I use the text installer with hd.img?  When I enter "text" at the
prompt on the hd.img floppy I get errors (copied by hand so please
excuse typos :-):
