The only difference is that the mail() function should work now if you fetch 
the stuff from my site.

There has not yet been any discussions of which php extensions should be in 
main, and which should be in contribs. I realize that for example "session" 
should be in main but I can't help you there, sorry. Please feel free to make 
a list of extensions that should be located in the main (on cd1) repository.
