How about:

0mdk
0.1mdk
...
0.9mdk
0.91mdk
...
etc

Or, if there are official prereleases, use the mdk prerelease policy:
0.preX.0mdk
0.preX.1mdk
etc

Or, if there are no prereleases, and you are doing cvs snapshots, something like this:
0.`date +%Y%m%d`cvs.0mdk
