Try setbrightness: http://us1.samba.org/ftp/unpacked/picturebook/ has the source, there's also a .tar.gz somewhere, but I can't find it, so just grab everything in that dir. It works on my Picturebook, and seems to be reported to work on misc. other VAIO models too, so it may work for you. -- adamw
