I checked my installation and libXft2-2.1-2mdk is installed. The strange
thing is that gnome2 works fine for *one* of my user accounts (very seldomly
used) and not the others. I've tried everything including deleting ~/.gnome*
and .gconf* and still can't get gnome working.  I'm seeing the exact same
problem as Wouter.
