Confirmed, mplayer-0.90-0.pre10.3mdk from cooker compiles just fine with
gcc-3.2-4mdk from cooker (all rebuilt on ML9.0). Wierd...

IIRC, you are just hiding the problem. Add -momit-leaf-frame-pointer and you should get again into troubles. If this is the case, code should probably be fixed as the former option may be turned out by default in some future version of gcc.
