The CD looked fine when I browsed it, but failed on the install. It turned out to be caused by a bad disk image. Have you verified the checksum on your CD1 image? It also has an AMD XP 2000 CPU. BTW, I get the same errors when trying to install Mandrake 9.0. I currently have Mandrake 8.1 installed but I installed it on my drive using a different computer.
