I don't think there is any milk in CoolWhip, and our pediatrician
once told us that a child who is allergic to milk is likely not
allergic to evaporated milk (the evaporation process apparently
destroys the component to which most people are allergic) or
yogurt. So whipped evaporated milk or vanilla yogurt may well be
options for you.

That is true. One can make a whipped topping using low fat milk and an
immersion blender. The milk though has to be extremely cold nearly
freezing.

You're probably right, but I seem to remember emersion blender demos where
the milk was whirled at such a high speed that it reached cream consistency.

As far as I know you can't make whipped cream without milk. It's not
exactly milk that you are actually using. It's heavy whipping cream. I
wouldn't think that you could do the same thing with just regular milk
that you can drink because the consistency wouldn't be the same.
