I don't mean to blow your bubble, but you can't keep ANY Coffee fresh. Here
is why, Coffee oxidizes from the moment it is roasted onward. This means
that if you put freshly roasted Coffee into a sealed container it will
produce oxygen gas and you will find that the sealed container is under
pressure. This is why a lot of Coffee is packaged in bags with degassing
valves. Once the entire pours surface of the Coffee bean has oxidized the
process will stop and the bean will then be stale. Also you will find that by the time the Coffee is stale all of the oil will be on the outside of the
bean. At this time if you were to smell the Coffee you would know that it
is old. There are several ways to prolong the life of Coffee. One is to
nitrogen amerce the beans. This is where the beans are placed into a
container of Nitrogen gas and sealed there. This stops the oxidation
process because the nitrogen replaces all of the air in the Container. You can find some caned Coffee done this way, and you can also find some Bagged Coffee this way. The second way to keep Coffee stable is to Vacuum seal it as most Canned Coffee is done. This process does stabilize the Coffee, but
it doesn't keep it fresh. Here is why. If you are going to Vacuum seal
Coffee you must keep it from oxidizing. If you vacuum seal Coffee you will
find that it will eventually loose that Vacuum. That is because Coffee
beans have some oxygen in the Chemical makeup, and even if you remove all
atmosphere the process will not stop. So you have to remove the oxygen from
the beans. This is done by first spraying the hot beans from the Roaster
with a mist of Water. Then the beans are sprayed with High pressure Air.
These two processes make the beans oxidize very quickly. Then the beans are canned and before the can is sealed there is some Liquid Aroma introduced to the can. Then they pull a vacuum on the can. Now here is an experiment for
you. If you open a can of Coffee like OH, MJB, or Maxwellhouse, you will
find that it smells really good. Put the plastic top back on the can and
open it in 2 days. You will find that even though you did nothing but open
the can the smell will change. Now do that with a bag of Coffee with a
degassing valve. You will find that 2 days after you open it the Coffee
will still smell the same as it did before you unsealed it. Thanks. Gerry

I have one, and you have a default setting that someone can program for
you, and then if you push the buttons it goes up or down with one push of
the button. for instance you push the down button for a smaller cup,
after it is finished it will go back to the program setting that was your
default. There are five cup sizes. 4 oz, 6 oz, 8 oz, 10oz, 12 oz, with
the advanced model, and others only have two cup sizes depending on which
model you choose. And they have over 200 kinds of coffee. It stays fresh
because of the way it is packaged.
I hope this helps and will be glad to answer any more question's you might
have.

Subject: [CnD] question about coffee makers

Does anyone have one of the Keurig coffee makers? I'm wondering if
they're
accessible or not. The one I was looking at ways you can program various
things, and I'm thinking it might not be accessible, but I'm wondering if
anyone else has tried one. Thanks for any help.
