Hi, Sarah.

I've made this type of sauce in the microwave many times and it comes out fine. It does take a bit of trial and error, though.

I usually melt the butter first and then add the flour, along with whatever spices I want to use.

Then I mix the butter and flour mixture together until everything is well combined and add the milk. I whisk it until I can't feel any flour lumps and pop the bowl back for a few seconds, take it out, and stir to get a feel for the consistency. depending on how quickly the sauce warms and starts to thicken, I may have to do this more than once.

The time will vary based on your cookware and microwave, and the amount of sauce your making.

Hi Alice.

This sauce sounds lovely, do you know if it will work in the microwave?

Blessings.
