As best I can remember I first came across Twitter in one of Howard's entries on Smartmobs. That was a couple of years ago! Of course I had to check it out and noted that, but for Howard's comments, I would have probably dismissed it. When Howard says something I know I have to consider it seriously. At the time I was giving a course on Cooperation Technologies.
More recently I have been looking more closely into μblogging and find it quite fascinating and challenging to study. Two of my students are using it in their MS thesis studies. Once can come across traces to most interesting material. They are usually meta conversations, where the real stuff is elsewhere. Twitter is very strong in conveying information about currently relevant/fresh material. The visibility of a tweet content may be but an instant or wide and long through retweets -- especially with users who have interesting following user characteristics. Then comes the challenging part of how to aggregate what we find interesting :) CMS...
