Is this really an X error, or can coot not find the executables for povray or raster3d?
execlp [1] seems to complain that it can't find files, which may feed back to Guile Gtk that there is an error with a similar phenotype to an X error. [1] : http://unixhelp.ed.ac.uk/CGI/man-cgi?execlp+3 Are povray and raster3d in your $PATH? Just a thought.
