Dear Jan,

I got the exact same "grey area" problem in coot when trying VcXsrv. However 
with Xming coot works well for me. In case of VcXsrv, I tried all the tricks I 
(or rather Google) found, without success.

In the past, we distributed Fedora USB keys to the students. Then, we switched 
to Ubuntu or Fedora installed in a Virtualbox container. Our hope is that WSL2 
is a better solution since the windows integrate more seamlessly into the 
desktop ...
