@RogerRiggs there's already a test for this case, see line 693:

callCodePoint(At, a, -1, 1, IndexOutOfBoundsException.class);

The reason why it was passing prior to these changes is that 
`ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException` extends `IndexOutOfBoundsException` and the 
latter is caught in the test.
