I wasn’t entirely serious about ignoring. Yes, actually I think they should 
always be warned the cli option is ignored or has no effect. The dmg image 
should always have the Application directory. This is standard MacOS practice. 
I don’t know if you should even call it the default. I would say for any 
application install dmg it is ’the choice’. You are correct the user can then 
opt to install it elsewhere. 

A warning that cli has no effect I think would always make sense. Even if they 
make it the Application directory it isn’t really doing anything right?
