I've been a fan of and participant on IRC for decades, but tbh, it's
been more of a burden lately to stay connected that way, so I haven't
been around much.
Zulip really does seem like a great option, so I'm all for giving it a
go. I just downloaded the macOS client and tried to connect, but
apparently the Python channel requires approval to join. Maybe I'm just
jumping the gun, but please let python-dev and/or -committers know when
it's read for play!
