You can not get qualified legal advice applicable to your particular
jurisdiction from the coreboot mailing list.

That said, I think the key question in your case is whether your
work can be considered a derivative work of coreboot or not.

Personally, I don't think a derivative work is limited to coreboot+patches;
I understand it to be a broader concept that *would* include works like
yours.

GPL allows you to do whatever you want "at home" as long as you don't
distribute to others, so maybe that's a practical solution for you -
but it's not really open, which I guess&hope is a USP for your business.

Please use a known compatible license instead... :)
