If I may comment on the contents rather than the text itself - another important aspect of television is its use as a political tool, be it in the positive or negative sense. Some countries, like mine (Czech Republic), have two sets of TV channels. Public channels, which are obliged to provide balanced information, and commercial channels, which are targetted at entertainment and its consumers. Television can provide immediate information, warning, it can announce, promote, criticise, present, discuss, be witness to various important events etc. It's not entertainment only. It's information as well.
