Anyone who has access to the internet - and thus, who could download the
file we're talking about - is unable to buy the video. One has only to go to
one of numerous on-line stores to do so.

Well, on the MP3s, that depends, what are they MP3s OF? Becasue here's the
crucial distinction that you miss: boots and piracy are very different. For
example: let's say that I have two copies of "Runaway" - one is a pirated
version from FNF, the other is a boot I recorded at a Corrs show. The former
is illegal, because it breaches copyright. But there's no copyright on
bootlegs - they're fair game, as much as some bands try to stop them. It's
not actually stealing anything from the band, you see; because there's
usually no intention to release the material involved. Besides, most record
companies are smarter than to cut off such a good way of quietly promoting a
band.

As for MP3s...Frankly, the medium doesn't matter, the law still stands.

I *do* know that it's the truth. Just becasue it's on-line, it's no
different to having it on a tape.

Actually, this is kinda a gray area. If the photo is accompanied by a
correct photo credit, then normally there's no problem with it. It's only if
one is explicitly claiming that it is one's own work, or clearly implying
it, that they can / will prosecute.

Well, not as simple as that at all, really. Hardcore fans will tape every
single show, becasue every single show is different. The record company
can't release a live album of every single show now, can it? Of course not.

>Something I don't understand.. this thing about Unplugged mp3's, as why

I suppose so that they can play them on their computer; although it does
baffle me, all this about using MP3 as a distribution format... Becasue
anyone who's tried burning MP3s to CD rapidly find out that of course, they
AREN'T CD quality audio, by any means.
