Hello again Julie,

Was trawling through the Londonderry newspapers and located several personal
announcements relevant to your Nickle forebears who were long-time Abercorn
tenants at Woodend, Strabane:

Londonderry Journal, January 19 1841
[Married] At Strabane, on Thursday last, by the Rev. Mr. Chambers, Presbyterian
Minister of Leckpatrick, Mr. WILLIAM McNICKLE, of Woodend, to ELIZABETH,
daughter of Mr. THOMAS COLLINS, of Leskinbuoy

Londonderry Standard, January 13 1866
[Married] January 11, in the Presbyterian Church, Leckpatrick, by the Rev.
Joseph Leitch, A.M., Mr. ALEXANDER ECCLES, Derry, to ELLEN, daughter of Mr.
JOSEPH NICKLE, Woodend Strabane

Londonderry Standard, February 3 1859
[Married] January 27, in the Presbyterian Church, Leckpatrick, by the Rev. Mr.
Chambers, Mr. MANSFIELD WHITE, Ballymagorry, to MARY ANNE, second daughter of
Mr. JOSEPH NICKLE, Woodend, both in the parish of Leckpatrick

Londonderry Sentinel, June 12 1880
[Died] June 10, at the residence of her son-in-law, Mr. WILLIAM McINTYRE,
Carlisle-road, Derry, MARGARET, relict of the late Mr. JOSEPH NICKLE, Woodend,
Strabane, aged 76 years. [Her remains will be removed for interment in the
family burying ground, Leckpatrick, on this (Saturday) morning, 12th instant,
at ten o’clock. Friends please accept this intimation]

The death announcement confirms that the burial place of the Nickles is indeed
Leckpatrick Old Burial Ground, although there is no surviving headstone.

Trust the above is interesting and adds to your knowledge of your forebears,
Len Swindley, Melbourne, Australia

Hello again Julie,

Thank you for your message and am delighted to assist you.

Nickles were also leaseholders in Tullyard which adjoins Woodend - see my file
of Tullyard Rentals and Valuations 1777-1858
http://www.cotyroneireland.com/rental/tullyardrentandval.html

ANDREW NICKLE died at Tullyard 1887 aged 92 years

death record for JOSEPH

LECKPATRICK PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH STIPEND PAYERS 1863
JOSEPH NICKLE paid 8/6 April and again in October
ANDREW NICKLE paid 3/6 October

LECKPATRICK MARRIAGE ANNOUNCEMENTS 1859-69

In the late 19th Century there was a Nickle family residing in adjoining Ballee
and doubtlessly related.
Good luck with your research and regards,
