Dennis, I'm just heading out the door to go to work- on DC9s- I will try to get a look at a Continental manual to double check on the alum parts. It is important to know if it's powder, slivers, flakes. Is the engine apart right now? I forget if you said so. If it's aluminum, changing crank and cam bearings wont do you any good- no aluminum down there. If the stuff is powder, it could possibly go through the bearings and screw them up. If it's a sliver or flake then you can pretty much be assured that your bottom bearings are OK. jz On Mon, 15 Jan 2001 18:07:47 -0500 "Dennis Spiegel" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> writes: > > Hello Jan, I just talked to my mechanic aand was informed that my > oil pump > is OK its mounted to the accessories caseand has some Aluminum in it > too.I > told him to remove the jugs to see if it was the pistons he told me > that > #2 cyl has some significant scuffing which could be the culprit .( > Now that > the jug is off his is complying with the AD on the bosses.) > It appears that this could be the problem.I was getting a little > more > breather pipe drip than when I bought the plane 4 years ago but not > all > that much.
