Ask your mechanic. Gut-feels says it should be okay, just stay out of the dust. Do remove the filter, because you don't want to damage anything by sucking in bits of burned-up filter element. Remember, carb-heat induction air bypasses the filter anyway. Look hard and see if anything else is scorched. I think I might take the cowling all the way off and look real hard in full daylight before I flew it.
