Bob, it sure wouldn't hurt to check the float level, along with everything else possible. Ice chunks in the gascolator is also a possibility (from water droplets in the fuel) as is lots of other things. Joa is also in store for quite a bit of forward fuselage repairs. The engine mount is connected to the firewall fittings, which are connected to the upper (p/n 415-31110-L & -R) and lower (p/n 415-31106-L & R) internal longerons that extend back to Frame "C," along with their associated parts and hardware. If any of that is bent or buckled, he will have a very expensive and time consuming project. Joa, look on pages 10 and 11 in the Ercoupe Parts Catalog to see what I'm talking about, and be sure to have your mechanic check these parts out thoroughly.
