I would be a little worried if you do it with the same old wiring.  Some 
of the wiring in these things is ancient and I don't think it needs any 
more juice flowing.  I'd just plan on replacing all of it if you go 
through with this project.  Watch out to make sure that it is actually 
STC'd for the C85.  One of the brands that Chief Aircraft (?) was 
selling was STC'd on the O-200 but it said you'd need a field approval 
for the C-85, if I recall correctly.  Personally I am not that 
optimistic though it would probably be no problem at all. I just don't 
like the idea of spending $750 on something that could have any chance 
of not being approved.  They did give some people in Alaska trouble over 
field approvals on alternators a few years ago but it was just one FSDO 
gone insane I guess. Glen Ward
