If you hate the IRS, just try and deal with the EPA! They are more powerful than Congress! President Bush is trying to recind the last hour of some of the Clinton executive orders. His is trying to reopen the 58,000 acres of lumbering that Clinton closed down. MY GOD, forests are a renewable resource! EVERY LIVING THING ON THIS PLANET WILL EVENTUALLY DIE! This includes TREES! Yet the enviromentalists want them to stay FOREVER! I cannot help but wonder when they are going to shut down farming of other renewable products! We ran into a firestorm with them when we had a C-133 transferred from a base in the midwest the USAF closing to Dover AFB. We escaped most of their wrath because the base was a USAF museum base and we took it apart and loaded it on a C-5 in pieces. (You could not print enough money required to ship it by ground transport)It took over a year and $50,000 to get it back to its home base here in Dover because we had to wait for space available in the C-5. The USAF would not allow us to use a C-5 for free! This was in spite of the fact that it is still in the USAF inventory and belongs to them and they HAD to remove it! The community values the Dover AFB, its mission, and the Museum and we raised the $50,000 in the private sector. I feel sorry for my grandchildren who will have to put up with a lot more of this crap than we do. Just to get it from where it sits to the front gate costs about $51,000. Then of course the museum must pay to have it trucked to where ever it is going. Just think, our equipment is being held ransom by the civilian contractors that the USAF, in it's infinite wisdom, has hired to handle the bones of our great flying machines. > > Now in all fairness the civilians aren't entirely to blame. OSHA, and the Environmental Protection Agency have put such heavy restrictions on those at DM that they do have to perform such vital inspections as: check the iridium dials on the instruments for excess radio activity, perhaps some lead paint, could we have asbestos in our wires, and I'm sure many other equally important items. Bottom line is no one can afford to get these aircraft out of the bone yard. Result, no more patriotic symbols of our great nations air arm on display in small towns and museums that don't have some already, etc. > > So what to do? I would encourage each of you to write your senators and congressman and protest this and get it changed NOW!! If you will write and forward this to the guys in your address book, they will get an avalanche of mail and emails. And since the White House is finally cleaned up, I think we can get this fixed. > > __________________________________________________ > To unsubscribe from this list please send mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > > ____________________________________________________________ > T O P I C A -- Learn More.
