No, because the oil fill pipe enters the tank below the oil level in the tank. If you're down to 3 qts or so it works the way you said, otherwise the oil level seals the pipe off from the crankcase vent. But if you don't believe me, try the test. Or, try this: Open the fill cap and blow in the vent tube. Oil will be forced out the fill pipe. All over the place.
