While being programmed by my instructor I gained some good words of wisdom
that work for me.
"recite to yourself while on final... 'ready for the go-around'... this
acknowledges/reminds you of the option if needed." I still do this every time
before I land, and it really works. Seems like some forget and commit.
I always wondered why my instructor made me fly the runway at 10 ft
70 mph doing a low  approach. What he was showing me was that if I made my
decision to go around I was already at lift off speed and all I had to do was
pull back. I remember doing multiple  touch-go-touch-go-touch-go and climb
out at the 10,000 ft runway. It felt like I was playing leap-frog. I think I
logged 24 landings that day.
