I happen to have the Flight Journal article that Ethell wrote about his first flight in the P-38. What a great writer he was. He sure knew how to put you right in the cockpit with him. What a loss. Did you know that his daughter is an aviation writer too? I don't know if she's also a pilot or not, but it wouldn't surprise me.
