Hi Alan... 
      This has happened to me before, but I caught it before takeoff. I 
think the same idiot that put your cap on last weekend snuck into my
hangar 
and put mine on too. Anyways, other than making a HUGE mess, it wasn't a
big 
deal. I know of a guy with an experimental that put a Latch type bracket
over 
his cap, but I'm sure it would require some legal paperwork (field
approval?) 
to do this to an Ercoupe. Personally, I painted a line going forward and
aft 
across the oil cap. That way if it's mis-aligned I might have a better
chance 
of catching it. Then there is the ol' "look at the area on the ground
where 
you did your run-up" technique too.
