Jim; I had the same thoughts about the magneto. However, since I had previously found some junk in the fuel tanks (left over from an old mud daubers nest) I thought that I should check the carburetor first. When the problems went away by replacing the carburetor, I felt that I had found the crux of the problem. You may be right though, and maybe I should change a magneto too, just to be sure.
