I took 2 steel bars 1/2"x1 1/2"x 6" long. drill 2 5/16" hole thru the 1 1/2" diminsion. the distance between the holes enough to clear the spacer washer width. A couple of 5/16" threaded rods with nuts. each bar positioned in the forked ends of the strut. clamp the bottom bar in a vice to hold the entire assembly and snug down the threaded rod nuts till the snap ring slot is visible thru the upper hole and work the snap ring in place. hope this makes some sense to you. regards JoeC N99621
