"Particularly to law-enforcement, which needs to make itself feel
important."

Easy now Greg! In some instances I would whole heartedly agree with that
statement. And why they need to fly a 206 is beyond me, unless they are
also going to use it for surveillance, which I have flown in a 172-- and
almost killed myself and my overweight police observers.... hi density
altitude looking for Marijuana grows... Who knows...

But there are more police agencies out there who struggle to pay an
officer a wage that he can live on and to have even BASIC decent
equipment, than there are "fatted calfs" with too much money to figure out
where to spend it all...

CHP Cessnas are 185s. For a while. They are all being retired in
favor of new Cessna 206's. Why one or two cops would need a
206, vs. a 182 or 172 is not clear, except that the smaller planes
would mean spending less of your tax dollars, which is anathema
to any government agency. Particularly to law-enforcement, which
needs to make itself feel important.
