Hi Folks, It's a sad day for CA in that we lost 2 air tanker pilots yesterday. I don't know if the planes, refurbished Grumman S-2s, are salvageable or not. The local newspaper is not much good at reporting, period, and even worse with aviation related news, but here is there website if you're interested. http://www.times-standard.com/ One of the CDF air tankers was giving a demo at the Santa Rosa Air Show, Sunday, August 19, and had to leave the air show that day to go to a fire. In fact when we were driving back north to Eureka, we could see the CDF S-2 tankers and helos working hard on a fire that day. I know that these pilots are super good so I have no idea what happened yesterday. I'll have to wait for the NTSB report to get the whole story. To make things even worse, I heard there is a possibility that this particular fire might have been started by people in a meth lab operation. Bad enough that they're doing something illegal and then they're so careless that they get a fire started which threatened other buildings? And although the pilots themselves are ultimately responsible for their own safety and fire fighting flying is very dangerous, if this specific fire was started by these criminals in the process of their illegal activities, then I think that they partly contributed to the pilots' deaths. If this is the case, I hope the jerks get nailed to the wall. :-( Spook ==^================================================================ EASY UNSUBSCRIBE click here: http://topica.com/u/?aVxiLm.aVzvvT Or send an email To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] This email was sent to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] T O P I C A -- Register now to manage your mail! http://www.topica.com/partner/tag02/register ==^================================================================
