George: I agree with your concern about passing copies of STC paperwork.
However, the individual did not ask for any STC paperwork. He only asked
for
an easy to follow wiring diagram. I have provided him a copy of my
approved
337 for replacing the generator with an alternator. In fact, I just got
another 337 for the same change signed today. (My third one for an
alternator
change)
I also agree wholeheartedly that all the changes to any aircraft should be

properly documented and approved, when required. Minor changes only need
log
book entries, not FAA approval.
However, If I go through the trouble to get a modification approved with a

337, I feel that I can share that information with fellow aircraft
owners/mechanics. It is their responsibility to get approval for any
modification they choose to make to their aircraft and properly document
that
change.
Unfortunately, too many of current day FAA Inspectors decline to accept
their
given responsibility and refuse to approve changes. I am fortunate that my

previous Inspector, and the current one were/are very understanding.
However,
even though they are understanding, they will not approve changes Willy
Nilly, or ones that they do not have the authority to approve.
Thanks for your concern. We all appreciated your help in getting the
extended
baggage kits for the Alon. (even though Univair chose to rip us a new one
with the prices)
