The recent talk of STC brought to mind an STC SNAFU
that I recently heard about.

I try to fly the FAA wings program every year. The CFI I fly it with lives
in Lewiston ID and I fly over and stay with Jim while we fly the three
hours required. 

Jim (also an A & P) was telling me about a small tail Stinson that the
chap had applied every STC in the book to. Big engine, big dorsal
fin, floats, metalizing, etc etc. 

However this guy neglected one small detail. He didn't buy a single STC,
just installed them. :-)

So if you want a bargain on a fancy Stinson with a big engine and floats
it is sitting at the Lewiston airport without any N numbers. It just has
a tiny little paper problem.

By the way the Coupe performed admirably at gross weight in 90+ weather.
