As many of you know, the Univair supplied muffler clamps for the Coupe are being supplied without the locating pin. They are very expensive and unsatisfactory. However, the muffler clamp for the Piper J-3 Cub is identical in function, and very similar in form. It sells in the neighborhood of $17.00. It is P/N U70591-002 available from Univair. The only difference in construction is that the Coupe clamp has a couple of bushings drilled for the bolt welded to the clamp to fasten it. The Piper clamp is made of a little heavier material and the ends are bent 90 degrees and drilled for the bolt. When I first spotted these clamps on a Coupe I didn't realize they were not the official Coupe clamp until I did some research on why they had the locating pin. Of course it would be wise to check with you I.A. before installing these clamps since they're not the "Official" Coupe part.
