Wayne and llist.
   I recently completed my annual inspection, which included new
ELT installation and recover of the tops of both wings. IMHO, the
first flight after annual is the most dangerous one you will take all
year - hince, my procedure of yesterday:
  * have a shut-down speed in mind = you really do not want to fly.
  * take the runway with as much remaining as possible (tail cone
     over the lights is acceptable).
  * FULL power. Apply throttle evenly remembering that you may
     not have an acceleration pump.
  * FULL back yoke. The idea is to get as much nose up as you
     can.
  * Shut down at the pre-determined, pre-stall speed.  I used 40
     to 50 MPH.
  * repeat to get confidance.
  * take off and land to a FULL stop. Taxi back.
  * two more landings to full FAA recent flight experience.

No gaurentees, but these good practices just might save you
an embarresment.
