I'd like to second Dave's observations, and also ask where you've been on this list for the past several years? If you've been so concerned, why have we never heard from you before? Besides, the problems you describe are hardly unique to 'Coupes. It is the fate of any old machine. Those of use who are into the preservationist thing understand this, and do our best to look after our machines well. In my experience, the most deadly thing to any old plane is poor maintenance. If you are cheesed off because you bought an old airplane, and it needed work, well, I'm very sorry for you. But I'll bet if you'd bought an old Cub, or a Luscombe, or and Aeronca, or whatever, you would have run the same risk. Many of the disgruntled former owners I've run into bought a $5,000 airplane thinking they'd gotten a *real bargain* that they could fix up and fly on the cheap. Sorry buddy, no such thing. There's no conspiracy here. We look after old planes the best we can. Sorry if you had a bad experience, but personally, I'll pay more attention to what I can find in NTSB reports than somebody who doesn't have the guts to use his or her own name.
