Many strippers are corrosive to aluminum and, while it may work in the short run, if you don't get it *ALL* out of the seams and such, you'll have problems down the line. "Aircraft" stripper is available from most body shop supply stores, and is approved. (Note that even it is not allowed on some landing gear parts, due I think to the possibility of hydrogen enbrittlement or something.) Also, zinc chromate is very difficult to remove and requires more elbow grease than stripper. Scotch-brite type "A" (NEVER type "S") helps, as does lacquer thinner.
