First off, there is no RPM restriction on the C90/McCauley combination.
Never was. For that matter, there no longer is a restriction for the
C85/McCauley combo, although there was one at one time. It was recinded
almost immediately. (Restriction was McCauley SB 12 and it was recinded
by
SB 13, or something like that.) The C90 was not included because it has a

different crankshaft.

Second, if you have a vibration that is sever enough that you're thinking
of
a yellow arc, you probably ought to figure out why it's doing it. It
shouldn't. I have a C90 with 1A90 and I can use any RPM rrom 1800 to
2475.
Some are smoother than others, but none are of any concern. (below 1800 I

can barely maintain altitude).

Patient: Dr. Dr, it hurts when I do this.
Dr.: Don't do that.

One thing you might want to check is the balance of the
generator/alternator.
I had a Lycoming that had a sever vibration around 2000 rpm after the prop

was replaced. Turned out the replacement prop was junk. You may want to
send the prop to a different shop for a second opinion. Bruce of US
Propellor of PA. has a lot of experience with props for small
Continentals.

Good hunting
John
