I applaud your efforts to get an Ercoupe into the Aerospace museum. I
think
there is one valid point to this thread no matter what side of the debate
(To
fly or to display) you are on. As many people as possible should
experience
Ercoupes. I too believe in giving as many people rides as often as
possible.
I too also believe that a coupe that CAN be made to fly SHOULD be made to
fly!. As our airplanes grow older, there will be plenty (I'm sure there
already is now) of Ercoupes that suffer from corrosion and those that are
not
airworthy ARE worthy of static display. For petes sake... if a coupe can
be
made to take to the air once again based on donor usable parts from
another
coupe, who is to debate the usefulness there.
To whomever believes I should not be able to repair my airplane with
usable parts from an airplane they feel should be in a museum... Put the
shoe
on the other foot, your airplane might look pretty nice there on static
display. PERSONALLY, I will give people (one at a time) the opportunity to
enjoy an Ercoupe from the air where it belongs, while it is still able to
fly, for as long as possible.
Andy Pomeroy
Warren,
My guess is that the "competition" you talk about is actually another
Ercouper with a burning desire to put his plane back in the air... much
like
your desire to get a coupe in the museum. Sorry you are having trouble
with
your search.
