I agree with you that the original yokes are no longer available. I ended
up
purchasing a pair of yokes from Aircraft Spruce, made by ACS, which were
STC'd for the Navion. I used this STC to obtain approval from my FSDO to
install them in my customers' Alon. However, the diameter of the inside of

the yoke was a couple .001 inches too small. We ended up taking the chrome

plating off the new shafts, obtained from Univair, in the area where the
yokes fit. Then we heated the yokes to about 300 degrees and drove them on

the end of the shafts. (Actually they twisted on most of the way) I used
the
taper pin hole to ensure that the yokes were perpendicular to the shaft
orientation, and then milled a small area off the new yoke to drill a hole

for a close tolerance fit AN bolt. They came out looking like a factory
job,
and the owner was quite pleased.
I had no trouble getting 337 approval for a major alteration, because the
original yokes were no longer available for the Alon, and the new ones had

STC paperwork for a certified airplane.
