If your altimeter is consistently off, it merely needs re-adjustment, not replacement. Next to the knob is a small flat slot screw. Loosen and back the screw out about 1/8". Then pressing it toward the rear of the instrument, slide it sideways away from the knob's shaft. Now the knob may be pulled out like setting an old watch. First set altimeter to read the actual altitude of where you are parked. Then pull the knob out and set the reading in the Kolisman window to the actual barometric pressure. Then push the knob back in and slide the screw/locking shaft back into place and tighten the screw. Once you have done this, you will find it is quite easy. On all but a few panels which have decorative covers, the locking screw is readily accessible.
