Folks,
      Here is some info that some of you might be able to use.

No. 14 gauge wire is good for 15 amps         (15 amp breaker max.
No. 12  gauge wire is good for 20 amps        (20 amp breaker max.
No. 10 gauge wire is good for 30 amps         (30 amp breaker max.
No.  8  gauge wire is good for 40 amps        (40 amp breaker max.

This is from the National Electric Code. There are wires made from
different alloys that have a
little higher ampacity but this is a good rule of thumb.
The weakest part of any wiring is going to be the connection. So if you
are
using crimp-on lugs
do a good crimp job and use good lugs.

In my opinion, we should not use any wire lighter than #14 for anything
electrical regardless
of breaker size
