Folks,
Here is some info that some of you might be able to use.
No. 14 gauge wire is good for 15 amps (15 amp breaker max.
No. 12 gauge wire is good for 20 amps (20 amp breaker max.
No. 10 gauge wire is good for 30 amps (30 amp breaker max.
No. 8 gauge wire is good for 40 amps (40 amp breaker max. This is from the National Electric Code. There are wires made from different alloys that have a little higher ampacity but this is a good rule of thumb. The weakest part of any wiring is going to be the connection. So if you are using crimp-on lugs do a good crimp job and use good lugs. In my opinion, we should not use any wire lighter than #14 for anything electrical regardless of breaker size Have a great day KC N3686H Nottingham Pa __________________________________________________________________________ ______ To unsubscribe from this list please send mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ___________________________________________________________ T O P I C A The Email You Want. http://www.topica.com/t/16 Newsletters, Tips and Discussions on Your Favorite Topics
