It was Lynn plus his ten year old grandson.

Liability-only coverage seems to run $300-400. The question is whether
you want per-seat coverage or a "single limit." Also, the amount of
coverage can range from $100K per seat to $2M single limit. Talk of
"full coverage" you have seen on this reflector is a meaningless term,
just as it would be for auto or homeowner insurance. Cost also varies
year-to-year, depending on industry losses and who is in the market.

The remainder of the coverage is for the hull and varies with the amount
of hull value, in motion and moving deductibles, and the insurance
company. Just like autos and houses, you have to insure the real value
or you will only get a proportion back in the event of a claim.

Because it is such a small market, purchasing aircraft insurance has
some strange characteristics. My advice would be to go with a large
agency that has some leverage over insurance companies and sells almost
all brands. I've used (what is now) AOPA Agency and have been treated
very well. My cost seems to fall right in the middle to the low end of
what others have claimed to pay, for like coverage.

$1100 is high, but I believe Avemco to be a high-end company - I never
used them because they were so expensive. Your cost will go down a
little as you get more experience (and ratings). They can't really quote
you now because you don't know what your hull coverage will be, but if
you insure the hull, you will probably pay $650 to $1000, depending on
all the variables mentioned above.
