----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]---- If I was buying a plane again, I would look first for one that was local, second for my price range, and not worry too much if it was a Taylorcraft, Chief, Ercoupe, C150 or whatever. I would take a local plane that is known to be good over a "fresh annual" Ercoupe 500 miles away. There are just so many planes of all kinds with corrosion and 30 year old overhauls that I don't think you can't be too choosy unless you are looking at top dollar planes. Ask around and try to find one locally. It is amazing how many coupes are around. Many people who want to sell don't even put it in TradeAPlane. It is an incredible hassle to try and get one back home that is hundreds of miles away. Also, you can get a better read on what is up with it if it is maintained by a mechanic you know about - that is very important. Remember that a complete worthless piece of junk can still fly great, so you have to get the right things looked at! Glen Ward
