----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm
before following any advice in this forum.]---- started the stripping
process finally. I'm using Solvent-Kleene D-Zolve GL 15-33 aircraft
paint stripper. this product has been advertised in Custom Planes as well
as other publications... started with the ailerons, applied the stripper,
waited a couple hours for it to thorouly work than applied high pressure
water to remove. one application removed about 98% down to bare
metal. I was satisfied. than started the second
aileron went through the same process. all the paint came off and
was surprised to see what looked like zinc chromate primer beneath.....it
didn't budge... went through the same process again, still the zinc
chromate wouldn't break loose. went through 3 applications and attempted
high pressure water removal with no luck. needless to say I was very
disappointed with this so called aircraft finish remover.
especially at $170 per 5 gal container. has anyone had any success
removing zinc chromate primer ? please
share regards JoeC N99621
