You best method of dealing with ANY insurance company, whether it be
home,
car, airplane, etc. is to check in your state. That is why you elect an
INSURANCE COMMISIONER! If the company has a record of complaints, the
INSURANCE COMMISSIONER has the right to bar them from doing business in
your
state. In most cases, this is the VERY LAST thing an insurance company
wants.
Call your Insurance Commissioner and ask, "How long has this company
been
doing business in our state? (Remember he wants your vote!) Then ask if
there have been any complaints filed against the company. Then ask what
the
insurance company's assets vs liabilities are in case you have a claim.
(debt/asset ratio) They may even send you a copy of their financial
statement.
I was involved in a mild auto accident years ago in another state. The
other driver admitted fault (in writing) to me and no officer was
involved.
When I sent them an estimate of the damage ($1,150.00) they refused the
claim. I called the person who signed the letter and he claimed the
refusal
was on the grounds of "Contributory negligence". I told him I did NOT
contribute to the accident! he failed to stop and hit me in the rear! He
replied, "You were there were you not?"
The next telephone call he got was from the Delaware Insurance
Comissioner's office. I was in the office when the rep. placed the call
and
he replied, "There must be some missunderstanding, I have Mr. Frebert's
check in the mail today." I got the check the next day!
George Frebert
P.S.
Remember to WIN, you have to know how to play the game!
