My friend MaryBeth, the lady I went to ground school with, have the same CFI as, and have developed a strong bond with, SOLOED YESTERDAY! She called me late last night and I am so happy that she did. It gives me a lot of hope. I could be where she is if I had been able to secure the funds as she did. But nevertheless, I know I will get there. I am so excited for her! When she called me last night and told me, we were both laughing. I wanted to hear every detail. She doesn't like to write like I do, but I encouraged her to get something down on paper anyway. I was jumping up and down and she probably was too. Two big kids. She soloed in the morning and then had to go to work and do errands. She was holding that in all day long as there is no one else for her to tell who would appreciate it quite like I do. Even though she had lessons fairly close together it took her about 30 hours before she was ready. That makes me feel better too, because I'm not the only one who takes awhile to learn this stuff. Some of you folks told me that you had soloed in as little as 4 hours. Well, I think that's great for those of you who could do it, but not everybody gets to that point so fast. We all learn at different speeds. I did feel a bit ashamed at first but then I'm not competing with anybody for lowest hours. The most important thing is that I learn well, regardless of how long that takes me.
